Webinar Summary
Professor Daniel B. Oerther and his son, Daniel Jr. (aka Barney), will provide their individual and collective perspectives on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Topics covered will include K-grey education (focusing on middle school and higher education) as well as everyday life. This webinar is intended to be interactive with the audience and to provide representative perspectives from Gen X (1965-1980) and Gen Z (1997-2012).
Webinar Speakers
Daniel B. Oerther, PhD, PE, BCEE, BCES, is a professor of environmental health engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, a professor of nursing (by courtesy) at Duquesne University, and the Executive Director of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientist. Dan earned his BA in biology and his BS in environmental engineering from Northwestern University in 1995. Dan created his first web site in 1993, purchased his first lap top in 1997, and purchased his first mobile phone in 2003. Dan prefers to use the Google search engine and Gemini AI.
Daniel B. Oerther, Jr, (aka Barney) is a freshman at Rolla High School, a hurdler, and currently holds the Life rank in Scouting America (formerly BSA). Barney purchased his first Jimu robot in 2015 and his first drone in 2017. He considers himself a Brawl Stars G.O.A.T. and his current favorite games include: Balatro (roguelike, poker style game) and Dead Cells (roguelike, side-scroller game). Barney prefers to use YouTube search and ChatGPT AI.

This webinar will include a moderated Q and A session following the speaker’s presentation. The session is open to environmental engineering and science professionals across all sectors and career stages. Our objective is to offer special insights on leading edge solutions for graduate and undergraduate students as well as early to mid-career environmental professionals who are considering specialty certification.
