Speaker Bio
Professor Daniel B. Oerther, PhD, PE, BCEE, BCES is the Executive Director of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientist and a member of the faculty of the Missouri University of Science and Technology. In 2016, Dan won the Academy’s Superior Achievement Award for “Improved Drinking Water in Ixcan, Guatemala”. As the Senior Science Advisor for Global Food Security to the U.S. Secretary of State, Dan developed the first-ever parametric insurance policy promoting sustainable fishing through the Caribbean, which was recognized with an Honor Award in the Academy’s 2020 Excellence in Environmental Engineering and Science competition. Dan holds an earned BS in environmental engineering and an earned BA in biological sciences. In 2004, he earned his PE in Ohio. In 2005, Dan achieved Board Certification in water supply and wastewater engineering through the written and oral exam pathway. In 2018, he achieved Board Certification in environmental microbiology through the eminence pathway. A Past President of the Academy, Professor Oerther is a Diplomate Laureate of the American Academy of Sanitarians, a Fellow of the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors, and a lifetime honorary Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. He's passionate to help others succeed in achieving Board Certification from the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists!
