Webinar Summary

Remington & Vernick Engineers (RVE) performed design engineering services and material shop drawing reviews for the Logan Township Municipal Utilities Authority (LTMUA) 0.50 MGD Water Reclamation Facility Expansion Project. When the project design was initiated, industrial parks in the Township were being rapidly developed. Warehouses and food processing facilities within the industrial parks discharged wastewater with pollutant characteristics of higher concentrations than average wastewater. In anticipation of additional flow, RVE designed the improvements that were constructed at the water reclamation facility on a narrow 70' wide strip of land at the rear of the site.

The project included the addition of 500,000 gallons per day of wastewater treatment capacity by the construction of a third sequencing batch reactor (SBR) tank, expansion of the equipment and controls building, addition of a 1,500-kilowatt emergency generator and a new electrical service with associated electrical switchgear and transformer. The project design met the needs of the LTMUA’s service area, permitting ongoing development and economic growth.

This webinar will outline RVE’s approach to several design challenges, including addressing the site’s environmental concerns through communication and collaboration with the NJDEP. It will cover the originality and innovation of the SBR tank design as well as the process for completing construction while minimizing equipment downtime. The webinar also will address the positive impact the project has had on the public the LTMUA serves and the successful preservation of the project site’s environmentally sensitive areas.
